PSA Reflection

 It’s important to not eat more than you can handle, because wasting food is one of the worst things you can do. There are hundreds of thousands of people who may not be able to quench their hunger, so only eat enough to get you by. One website that helped me a lot was Compassion.com/poverty where I got a handful of my facts from, like how One-Fifth of kids under five are undernourished, and forty-five percent of deaths under that age are linked to lack of nourishment. At first, the idea of making a video seemed daunting, I have never made one before, so it was definitely new to me. I also didn’t know whether or not my video would have been interesting or have grabbed people’s attention. However, once I got the hang of it I enjoyed recording and editing my video. My favorite part would definitely be my song choice. It’s slow enough to keep the tone of the video while not being sad enough to get you in a depressing mood. As for my speaking alone, I think I could have done a better job. Of course, since this was my first time it wasn’t going to be perfect, but it was really hard to find a quiet place with a good background to record. When I eventually did I had to hope I didn’t stutter too much to restart. I ended up editing my voice a lot to make sure there were no pauses in the video, and I hope next time I sound more appealing.

    I liked how you talked about something other than culture, and this really opened my eyes to how much food is actually going to waste. I also like how you included data and the sources you got your information from.

    I think it's pretty dope that you connected the statistics and information back to your own personal experiences. The PSA was informational but the way you filmed the video made it conversational which can draw people in and make them care about your chosen topic. - Bless

Week 1 "Aha" Moment

My “aha” moment was very much building up since I saw everyone's project. Seeing people make their assignment about their culture and foods that were very much tied with their identity really made me think about my own culture and identity. Despite my slides being about my life in a meaningful manner, it had nothing to do with the fact that I was black and / or Muslim . Final Blog Reflection

  The idea of the blog at first was very daunting, since I always related a blog to a lot of commitment and consistency. Which is why I never really had a general theme other than the fact that the blog was about me. I was afraid to put my genuine work out there and instead I decided to go with the bare minimum needed. However, I did slowly grow into the blog and felt more comfortable putting myself out there. The week one “aha moment” was a great example of this, as I talked about my experience having cornrows and the reactions I got from my peers as well as the general consensus I got from people around me. Overall, I still kept it general so It can relate to everyone on a personal level. The first time I really talked about a personal subject was when we were making PSA videos. I didn’t really have an idea on food itself, but then I remembered it just had to be related to food.
